The European Commission plans to strengthen health care efforts in Slovakia.
Devex Early Intelligence learned from a senior official at Slovakia's Ministry of Health that the commission will primarily fund the modernization of health care infrastructure and, health promotion and risk prevention initiatives.
EC's interventions will focus on "Group 5" diseases which include circulatory, respiratory and digestive system illnesses.
The commission will also be providing technical assistance for the implementation of health-related activities in the Slovak Republic.
Approximately 242 million euros (US$340 million) has been set aside to finance these planned activities for 2007-2013.
