IRD’s mission is to reduce the suffering of the world’s most vulnerable groups and provide tools and resources needed to increase their self-sufficiency. The organization accomplishes its mission by implementing targeted cost-effective relief and development programs that improve the lives of these vulnerable groups.

 

  • IRD was founded by Dr. Arthur B. Keys, Jr. in 1998;
  • IRD provides more than $400 million annually in development and humanitarian assistance to Africa, Asia, the Balkans, Latin America, the Middle East and the Newly Independent States;
  • Since 1998, IRD has provided over a billion dollars in humanitarian assistance to vulnerable populations around the world;
  • Each year IRD distributes more than $100 million in in-kind contributions to those in need around the world;
  • Currently IRD is implementing or developing assistance programs in 30 countries; and
  • IRD provides cost-effective relief and development programs in six core sectors (Economic Development, Public Health, Sustainable Food and Agriculture Systems, Infrastructure, Community Stabilization, Democracy, Governance and Community Development and Relief/Rapid Response) and Special Projects.

 

IRD works in collaboration with a wide range of organizations in the design and implementation of humanitarian relief and development aid programs, including U.S. and foreign government agencies, to include the DoD, USAID, USDA, Department of State and DFID, in addition to bilateral and international donor organizations, international finance organizations, faith-based organizations and advocacy groups, international and local NGOs, and U.S. corporations. The organization has experienced tremendous growth over the last few years, and it is currently seeking an experienced Chief, Program Development to lead and direct this expansion.

 

Responsibilities

 

Reporting directly to the President, the Chief, Program Development will provide strategic leadership, vision and direction for IRD’s business development efforts, manage the work of the Program Development Unit, work in partnership with the President & CEO, Chief of Program Operations, senior management team and technical sector directors to pursue new business opportunities that fit within IRD’s strategy, and ensure that new business revenue goals and targets are met, across all sectors with special emphasis on IRD’s new Community Stabilization Sector. Develop public/private partnerships, and new funding streams consistent with IRD’s business goals. As a key member of IRD’s executive team, the Chief, Program Development will represent and promote interest in global development programs with current and prospective funding agencies, donor agencies. This will include maintaining relationships with international organizations, donor agencies, corporate, governmental, and multi-lateral agencies.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Extensive knowledge and past relationships with USAID, State Department, USDA, World Bank, Department of Defense, foreign development organization, and international organizations. Proven track record in securing funding across a multi sectoral environment from a variety of funding sources in addition to demonstrated success with PEPFAR funding. Excellent managerial and technical skills in new business and proposal development. Minimum of 10 years senior management experience in new business development in an NGO, international organization, or the private sector. Familiarity with ISO standards and project management, technical side of program development, bidding process, development of strategic organizational alliances and development of new lines of business. Minimum of a graduate degree.
