Position Title: Crisis Response Health/Nutrition Advisor (Consultant)

Project Name: Integrated Humanitarian Assistance

FHI 360 is seeking qualified applicants for an anticipated future project.

Background and Main Objective:

FHI 360’s Crisis Response team is addressing the increasing number of armed conflicts, unprecedented flow of refugees and greater frequency of natural disasters around the world. With a mission to improve lives globally, FHI 360 is dedicated to address growing humanitarian crises through integrated solutions in WASH, Health, Nutrition, and Protection from crisis to resilience. We aim to apply both our humanitarian and development approaches from the earlier points of crisis through stabilization.

This is a call for qualified individuals to apply for the Crisis Response team’s global humanitarian response roster, with a regional focus on the Middle East, i.e Iraq. The Crisis Response team is seeking a Health/Nutrition Advisor to assist in the assessment, proposal design, and implementation of an integrated humanitarian assistance project. The Health/Nutrition Advisor will also be expected to coordinate with other implementing partners and funders in the area to identify the current gaps and needs in programming by representing FHI 360 at cluster coordination meeting. This position will work closely with other technical advisors at the location and liaise with HQ support to ensure internal processes are followed.

Specific Activities:

  • Support the assessment team by attending health and nutrition coordination meeting with funders and implementers, visiting field sites for potential implementation, and researching country-specific regulations that may impact implementation.
  • Design the technical design with technology and drawings (as appropriate), M&E plan, implementation schedule and staffing plan for health and nutrition
  • Draft a detailed budget aligned with the technical design for health and nutrition
  • Implement program activities funded by the FHI Foundation

Deliverables:

  • Field assessment report specific to the gaps and needs in the health and nutrition sectors
  • Detailed notes of meetings with relevant stakeholders
  • Integrated health & nutrition proposal design with all relevant annexes
  • Implementation of internally-funded activities

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years prior international NGO experience implementing humanitarian programs required, preferably in complex emergency or post-conflict settings.
  • Medical degree in primary health care and related job experience in health and nutrition implementation in humanitarian crises required.
  • Demonstrated experience with international donors required.
  • Prior experience implementing a USAID/OFDA project highly desired.
  • Work experience in the Middle East (especially Iraq) preferred.
